This tour starts and ends in Kampala. The trip starts in Queen Elizabeth National Park, a world biosphere reserve in Uganda. The park is famous for its wild game. The park is also, a home to tree-climbing lions, elephant, hippos, buffaloes, antelopes, baboons, and chimpanzee. The park is also home to over 500 species of birds that include kingfishers, falcons, and eagles.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, head for Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is situated at the foot of the Rwenzoris Mountains, protecting over 200 sq km of Rift Valley Savanna, interspersed with patches of forest and crater lakes thus an thought for a safari. At your arrival, carry out a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel. You will scrutinize the concentration of water birds, hippos and crocodiles which is amazing. The bird species includes the black bee- eater, 11 types of king fisher, and several species of falcons, eagles and the raptors and many more. Day 2: Game drive and chimpanzee tracking
Early morning game drive in the Park, to see wildlife like elephants, lions, Uganda Kobs, spotted hyenas and the leopard plus many others. In the afternoon, head to Kyambura gorge for the chimpanzee trekking.These delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. Day 3: Travel through the Ishasha to Bwindi Forest
Checkout of the lodge. Today we have an excursion in the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is the sector that is popularly known for hosting the tree climbing lions that hang up in the fig trees. You will have lunch at one of the lodges in the region. Continue to the north of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Overnight at Buhoma Community (Budget) / Buhoma Haven Lodge (Midrange) / Mahogany Springs Lodge (Luxury)
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
After breakfast, head to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters for briefing and then set off into the rain forest and bamboo covered slopes, searching for the mountain gorillas. This time you will track one of the habituated gorilla families in the Buhoma Sector of Bwindi. If time allows, go for a nature walk or visit the local communities. Day 5: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, travel back to Kampala, the capital of Uganda. You will have lunch in Mbarara. Have a stopover to buy some souvenirs and crafts at Mpambire where you can observe the Buganda Royal Drum Makers. You can even buy a few to take home. Drop off at the hotel or Airport.
